Wellbeing, Mental Health and Support information for young people and families

The emotional health and wellbeing of the Sutton VA Primary School community, including staff, parents and pupils, is fundamental to our ethos and values. We have embedded wellbeing into every aspect of our school and we will continue to do so, involving everyone.  Our vision for mental health and wellbeing ties into our religious vision and our school Values.

Our mental health provision is included:

Mind BLMK

Mind BLMK Young Person's Sanctuary Scheme flyer

Mind BLMK have set up Young Person's Sanctuaries across Bedfordshire where Young people can drop in to a safe and relaxed space. You will find them in Leighton Buzzard, Houghton Regis, Sandy, Luton and Bedford. There is no need  to book an appointment, just drop in for a chat or just some space.   • Kooth
    Young people aged 11-19 can access support for their mental health and wellbeing from Kooth.
    Kooth is free, safe and anonymous and is here to help and support young people with their mental health and is available 365 days a year.  Kooth offers more than just counselling, including Kooth magazine, forums, live discussion boards, journal, goals, and a mini activity hub.

  •  The Paediatric Occupational Therapy team of Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust has launched a new online video presentation to help parents and professionals of children with a sensory challenge.

    The presentation enables parents and professionals to learn about sensory preferences, help with developing resilience using sensory smart strategies and how to adapt tasks to increase participation.

  • Free school meals (FSM) information from Central Bedfordshire Council
This link can be used for applying for FSM during the COVID-19 emergency.  A child in reception, year 1 or year 2 and not attending school, may be eligible for free school meals until schools return to normal opening.

  • The local authority have produced an invaluable resource pack with two key documents added. The first of these is a two page summary record which is COVID 19 Hospital Communication Passport that lists the most important things that hospital and medical staff must know about disabled persons as soon as they arrive. It is important to complete your COVID 19 Hospital Communication Passport to ensure hospital and medical staff understand disabled children, young people and adults range of access and support needs.
