Whole school Geography focus day 20th November 2019
One of the highlights of this term has been our Geography focus day. Each class developed knowledge, language and skills related to the Geography curriculum such as; comparing and contrasting localities while learning and naming their features – location, weather, population, terrains and how these impact on life there – wildlife, food, homes, schools, jobs and traditions. We thank the parents who gave brilliant talks to each class.
Marijana Evans shared interesting facts and her personal experience of life in Croatia and Toni Meyer shared her collection of flags, helping the children to recognise the similarities and differences while learning the significance of their symbols and colours. Staff consider such days a wonderful way to; immerse our pupils in one curriculum area, develop subject specific skills, knowledge and vocabulary and evaluate the progression of one curriculum area across all phases. We have planned a curriculum focus day each half term. We welcome parents and carers to contribute to these themed days to show our pupils how the curriculum transfers to personal interests, experience and careers.
