Robotics Workshop
Year 2 and Ocean class had a special treat this week when they attended a Lego Mindstorms workshop, where they worked in small groups to build their own robot. The children had a fantastic time flexing their imaginations and creating their own robots. They then got to practice their coding and programming their robots to move. There were squeals of delight when the robots started to move around the village hall floor and used the sensors the children had included to detect any objects and turned to avoid it!
Some thoughts from the children:
“… it was so much fun because I like playing with the robots” Robyn
“I liked playing with the moving robots on the floor” Joshua
“I enjoyed using the mini computers” Joel
“I liked the way the sensor made the robot turn away” Lilian
“… designing the robot was the best” Sam
“It was very interesting and fun. It was cool to see robots moving themselves”
