National Numeracy Day
The school celebrated National Numeracy Day on Wednesday.
Lime Class
For National Numeracy Day, Lime Class children enjoyed using maths to count out different moves and steps for a dance with Strictly star and National Numeracy ambassador Katya Jones. Katya broke a very fast, complicated dance into slow, small and easy steps. The children practised these at Level 1, 2, 3 and 4. Finally they could do the dance at Level 5! Katya’s message to the children is that if they are struggling with a maths problem, they can break it into small steps. In this way, they can overcome problems and achieve great things.
Larch Class
On National Numeracy Day on the 17th May, Larch Class made up and performed a Maths Rap. They thought about their own views of Maths and the added a bit of rhyming, before we created a whole class rap.

Mojo Mojo we try our best,
so here’s our Maths Rap, enjoy the rest
When you’re learning to add, you don’t need to get mad
If you are stuck on time, you could try and eat a lime
When learning about halves, we can try and have a laugh
Here we go – okay- 17th May

Base 10, counters, numbers lines, bricks
Stones, cones, leaves and sticks
Working together we will be fine
If we have problems, use a number line
If finding it hard to divide, ask a teacher, please don’t hide
Here we go – okay- 17th May

When counting out some money, remember to ask for help from mummy
When you are doing your sums, would it be
good to play the drums
We play with money, we set up shop and it’s so funny
Maths maths we’re not afraid
We try our best and show we are brave
Here we go – okay- 17th May
