First Club 30

There was a lot of excitement for our first Club 30! One parent told me that their child had been awake since 6am as she was so excited! It was lovely to welcome new members from Year 2 and from Hawthorn Class.

The session started off with the traditional Headbandz game where the ‘king’ or ‘queen’ had to guess their number by asking mathematical questions, to which the rest of the children could only answer yes or no.

The children then choose from a selection of games to challenge their mathematical thinking. It was lovely to see some of last year’s members teaching the new members some of the strategy games including Blokus and Connect 4 Advance. Darts is always an enjoyable activity, but it did require some challenging mental maths skills.

The refreshments were thoroughly enjoyed and the afternoon flew by! The members said they’d had a great time and were going to encourage their friends to learn their times tables so they could join the club. We look forward to welcoming more members in the Spring term.
